What changed, and why.

mote checks for updates once a day and downloads nothing without asking.

0.9.0
Public beta · Linux
Unreleased

The first public build. The editor described on the documentation page is in it; licensing arrives with 1.0.

In this build
  • Your file is written back as the bytes you typed — line endings, indentation, frontmatter and HTML pass through untouched, and every save is atomic. The status bar shows how many bytes actually changed on disk (saved · n B).
  • Three views — Live, Source, and Read — of the same buffer. Switching keeps your caret and scroll position.
  • Tables are edited in place. Click a table in Live and the grid stays; only the cell with the caret shows its source. Tab, Shift+Tab, the arrows and Enter move between cells, Enter on the last row adds one, and right-click inserts or deletes rows and columns. A | typed inside a cell is escaped for you.
  • Math: inline $…$ and block $$…$$, a TeX subset drawn by the app itself. HTML export writes it as MathML.
  • Images: paste one from the clipboard and it is saved as a PNG next to your document, in assets/ — only after you press Save on the confirmation card. Drag a handle in Live to resize; the size goes into the alt text (![alt|300](x)), which Obsidian also reads.
  • Find & replace (Ctrl+F, Ctrl+H) with case, whole-word and regex options. Matches are highlighted in all three views, inside table cells too.
  • Focus mode (F8) hides everything but the text. Move the pointer to the top edge to bring the header back; Esc exits.
  • Export to PDF (the Read view's typography, paginated, with the same tables and code blocks as the screen) and to self-contained HTML with no scripts.
  • The interface comes in 12 languages, English by default, switched instantly from Settings.
  • Korean input is tested on real hardware: Hangul composition through ibus-hangul passes all nine cases of tools/ime_cases.sh. fcitx5 and Wayland are not verified yet.
Ubuntu 24.04+ / Debian 13+ (.deb) · Flatpak to follow · Checksums ship with every release
Versioning. Major versions (2.0) may change file handling and are a separate, discounted purchase for existing owners. Minor versions add features. Patch versions fix bugs and never change behaviour you rely on. Every minor and patch release inside your major is free.
